An Eyewitness Report

This letter is the closest thing I've ever found to an eyewitness report of the startup of Parkway construction. Its author, James P. Dodge, worked for the North Carolina State Highway Commission. He reports "first breaking of ground" for the Parkway as Thursday, September 18, 1935. This date does not agree with the September 11th date on the historic marker.
